This plan shows users how to properly apply for a Canadian passport. Because of the international value of Canadian passports, the process is deliberately complex so as to minimize abuse of the Canadian Multilateral Instrument 11-102 - Passport System (MI 11-102). The plan directs users to download the appropriate passport application forms directly from the Government of Canada website, as out-of-date or third-party application forms may be rejected. The plan also directs users who if they so choose wish to acquire a handwritten version of these forms to their local Canada Post office or Service Canada office. It is also recommended that applicants submit their application forms at their nearest Service Canada office for best results.
